Babel

English–Spanish translation

Live English–Spanish voice translation for remote conversations

Babel helps English and Spanish speakers hold a real remote conversation without reducing it to typed messages. Spoken English becomes Spanish for the listener, spoken Spanish becomes English, and both sides can follow the transcript.

How Babel translates a live conversation

Babel is a conversation space, not a phrasebook. Speech, translation, and playback happen together in the browser.

01

Start and invite

Create a private conversation and send the invitation to the person joining you. There is no app to install.

02

Speak naturally

Each participant speaks in their own language. Babel recognizes the speech and produces a live translation.

03

Hear and read

Participants hear translated speech in their chosen language and can follow the readable transcript as the conversation continues.

Suppliers and collaborators

Built for real remote conversations

Individual language choice

Each participant chooses the language they want to hear, so the conversation does not depend on one shared translation setting.

Browser-based access

Join from a modern browser with microphone access. No mobile or desktop application is required.

Voice and transcript together

Listen to translated speech while the text transcript provides a second way to follow what was said.

Babel is not intended for emergency, medical, legal, or other safety-critical interpretation. Use a qualified human interpreter whenever accuracy is critical.

Frequently asked questions

Does Babel translate English and Spanish in both directions?

Yes. English speech can be played in Spanish and Spanish speech can be played in English. Each participant independently chooses the language they want to hear.

Does Babel understand different Spanish accents?

Babel automatically recognizes speech across more than 70 input languages and varieties. Results can still vary with audio quality, background noise, accent, and specialized vocabulary.

Is this a phone-call translator?

Babel is a separate browser-based voice conversation. A host creates it and shares an invitation; it does not translate an ordinary cellular phone call.

Can I read the English–Spanish translation too?

Yes. Babel combines spoken translation with a readable live transcript, giving participants both audio and text context.
