Terms of service
The agreement for using Babel.
These terms apply when you create an account, join a translated conversation, or buy a Babel subscription.

Accepting these terms
By using Babel, you agree to these terms and our Privacy Policy. If you use Babel for an organization, you confirm that you can accept these terms on its behalf. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
You must be at least 13 years old and old enough to consent to online services in your country. If you are not old enough to enter a contract, a parent or legal guardian must agree for you.
Your account and conversations
Sign-in is provided through Google. Keep access to your Google account and Babel session secure. You are responsible for activity under your account and for ensuring that people you invite understand that speech will be processed and a text transcript will be saved.
Invitation links are intended only for the invited person. Do not publish them or use Babel to record, transcribe, or translate someone without any consent required by applicable law.
Translation limitations
Machine speech recognition and translation can be incomplete, delayed, or wrong. Voices, accents, background noise, connection quality, and language context all affect results. Review important transcript content independently.
Do not rely on Babel for emergency calls, medical diagnosis or treatment, legal advice, safety-critical instructions, or any decision where a translation error could cause serious harm.
Acceptable use
You may not use Babel to:
- break the law, violate another person’s rights, or facilitate harm;
- harass, threaten, exploit, deceive, or impersonate anyone;
- share malware or attempt to bypass security, access, or usage limits;
- probe, scrape, reverse engineer, resell, or disrupt the service except where law permits;
- upload content you do not have the right to process; or
- use automated means to create accounts or obtain repeated free allowances.
We may limit or suspend access when reasonably necessary to protect Babel, its users, providers, or the public, or to investigate a suspected violation.
Your content and Babel’s service
You keep any rights you have in what you say and the transcripts created from it. You give Babel a limited permission to process, transmit, store, translate, display, and export that content only to operate, secure, and support the service.
Babel and its licensors own the product, design, software, brand, and other service materials. These terms give you a personal, limited, revocable, non-transferable right to use Babel; they do not transfer ownership of the service.
Plans, renewals, and cancellation
Current prices, included translation time, and billing periods appear before checkout. Taxes may be added where required. Paid subscriptions renew automatically at the stated interval until canceled. Polar securely processes payments and provides the customer billing portal.
You can cancel from Account → Plan and usage. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period, so access continues until that date. You can resume before the cancellation date. Deleting the Babel account does not by itself cancel the subscription.
Plan allowances and features may change. A material price change applies no earlier than a future renewal, after any notice required by law. Unused minutes do not roll over unless the plan description expressly says they do.
Refund policy
Request a refund within 14 days.
Email support@babel.mobi within 14 days of the charge and include the account email, charge date, plan, and reason. Do not send a full card number.
Refunds are reviewed based on service usage, duplicate or unauthorized charges, technical failures, and applicable consumer law. Except where law requires otherwise, a completed billing period or a period in which substantial translation time was used is not refundable merely because the subscription was canceled or unused afterward.
Approved refunds return to the original payment method. Bank processing time varies. Canceling prevents future renewals but does not automatically refund the current period. Nothing here limits a mandatory cooling-off, withdrawal, or refund right in your country.
Third-party services
Babel depends on services such as Google, OpenAI, LiveKit, Polar, Resend, and hosting providers. Their separate terms may apply to features they provide. We are not responsible for a third-party service outside our reasonable control.
Availability and responsibility
Babel is provided on an “as available” basis. To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access or perfectly accurate translation.
To the extent permitted by law, Babel is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or lost-profit damages. Babel’s aggregate liability arising from the service will not exceed the amount you paid Babel in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. These limits do not apply where they are prohibited or to liability that cannot legally be limited.
Ending service and changes
You may stop using Babel or delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end access for a serious or repeated violation, legal requirement, security risk, or non-payment. Terms that by their nature should survive—such as payment obligations, ownership, disclaimers, and liability limits—continue afterward.
We may update these terms to reflect changes to Babel or the law. We will update the date above and provide additional notice of material changes when required. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated terms.
